Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) beats Kansas University (KU)

The Kansas Jayhawks’ supposedly easy stroll on the Road to the Final Four ended in a pothole Sunday.

Virginia Commonwealth University, VCU, a No. 11 seed and the biggest underdog remaining in the NCAA Tournament, used an uncanny barrage of 3-point shooting to upset top-seeded KU 71-61 Sunday in the finals of the Southwest Regional in San Antonio.

Only two previous No. 11 seeds have ever reached the Final Four.

In the last remaining Number 1 seed, Virginia Commonwealth University won over Kansas University advancing Virginia Commonwealth University to the national semifinals of NCAA basketball men.

The Secret Method To Make Your Penis Bigger

The secret method you're about to learn to make your penis bigger has been passed down for generations from father to son, to prepare them for marriage. The Sudanese people are credited with having the largest penises in the world, and for good reason, the methods actually WORK.

If you've been reading all the hype about there being no solution to increase your size, then this might be the most important article you'll ever read to make your penis bigger. You're about to be shocked by the secrets in this article that will add 2" to 4" to your size in only 20 to 30 minutes a day.

A word of warning though, your lady will be pleasantly surprised by the results, and might not be able to leave you alone for a long time.

Prepare To Make Your Penis Bigger With Growth Sessions

Before your penis enlargement session can begin prepare by collecting a few essential items.

• Organic extra virgin coconut or olive oil
• Organic herbal skin repair cream
• A large wash cloth
• And hot water drawn in the sink

Once you've collected these items close and lock the door, because the fun is about to begin.

The Secret Method Of Sudanese Jelqing (Milking)

Follow these instructions to the T in order to see massive gains in penis size. I'm sure you've heard of "jelqing" all over the net, but there are different ways to jelq that make your penis bigger.

The best way to start is with the OK finger method. Pressing the index finger to the thumb in an A Ok hand gesture does this. You can use two methods, the over hand and under hand, whichever is more comfortable for you.

Begin by soaking the washcloth in the sink of hot water. Take the washcloth from the sink and wrap your penis in it until it gets lukewarm or cold in temperature. This helps the tiny chambers and blood vessels in your penis to relax.

Once the warm wrap is finished apply your oil liberally. You'll need plenty of lubrication when you're jelqing. Keep in mind there is a middle point to how hard of an erection you'll need. Your erection should be a minimum of 40% to 50%, and shouldn't exceed 80%. If you feel like you'll ejaculate during your session, stop and wait for it to subside before continuing.

Now, follow these tips to jelq properly while sitting or standing:

1. Apply the OK grip at the base of your penis, near your pubic bone, with the first hand.
2. Now stroke in a forward or down manner while applying ample pressure to feel the blood go to the tip of your penis.
3. Apply the OK grip with the second hand at the base, and let go with the first hand.
4. Stroke forward or down the same way you did with the first hand to the head of your penis again.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for 20 to 30 minutes.

The stroke should not be less than 3 seconds. If you have to, on each jelqing hand you can count, one-one thousand two-one thousand three-one thousand. You're trying to avoid ejaculation, while at the same time trying to gain ample pressure to make your penis bigger for length and girth.

Once your session is finished apply the skin repair cream to heal faster.

Warnings

If you want to strengthen your erections even further you can press and hold your PC muscles (the muscle that is in between your anus and scrotum) while jelqing to make your penis bigger.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself in the first month. Your gains will come with a consistent daily routine. There will be discoloration and spots on the tip and shaft of your penis after your sessions, this is normal and a good sign that it's working.

If you get larger red or purple spots on the shaft of your penis take a couple days off of your routine to heal. This is why a good warm wrap is necessary.

That's all you need to make your penis bigger. All it takes is consistent focused 20 minute sessions everyday to start seeing results in as little as 3 weeks. Don't get discouraged if you don't see results right away. If you follow the tips you learned you'll be on your way to a larger penis.

Microsoft releases new Internet Explorer 9 browser

AUSTIN, Texas: Microsoft released the latest version of its Internet Explorer Web browsing software free online late Monday, hoping to fend off recent challenges by Firefox and Google Chrome.

“IE9 has just released around the world,” a booming voice told a cheering crowd at 11:00 pm Monday (0400 GMT Tuesday) in the Austin City Limits Live concert hall where a launch party was being held.

Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) was available for download in 30 languages at beautyoftheweb.com.

“Things are about to change,” Microsoft corporate vice president Dean Hachamovitch said just hours earlier at a press conference at the South By Southwest Interactive technology festival here.

“We took a dramatically different tack,” he continued. “It’s a really good day for the Web.”IE9 is built to make the most of Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows 7, as well as graphics processing chips that can power videos, games and graphics.

The long list of partners that have adapted websites to IE9 includes Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, Hulu, and Yahoo!, according to Microsoft.

“We have worked with partners reaching a billion active Internet users,” Hachamovitch said. “All of these partners are using IE9 to make a more

beautiful Web, starting today.” More than 40 million copies of IE9 have already been downloaded as part of the process leading up to its official release, according to Microsoft.

Microsoft showed off a lean, muscular new Internet Explorer crafted to spotlight slick websites and beat back competition from Firefox and Google.

Microsoft director of web services strategy Ari Bixhorn booted up an Apple MacBook Pro laptop running the latest version of Firefox for a side-by-side comparison.

A laptop powered by Windows and using IE9 smoothly zipped through cascading images illustrating top tunes at a radio station website while the competition appeared to be much slower.

Once a website is reached, the IE9 browser seems to almost vanish to spotlight the content.

“The browser is the stage and the websites are the stars of the show,” Hachamovitch told AFP during an earlier demonstration.

The browser is included in Windows software, and the operating system remains at a core of Microsoft’s software empire. The Redmond, Washington-based technology colossus claims more than one billion Windows customers.

IE9 promised to be another hit release for Microsoft, which has had market success with the Windows 7 operating system and the Kinect motion-sensing controller accessory for Xbox 360 video game consoles.

The truTV Network

The truTV network, once known as Court TV, will telecast all four of the “First Four” games Tuesday and Wednesday (including Clemson’s and UNC-Asheville's first-round games tonight) and then have games throughout the weekend (including Duke’s 2:40 p.m. first-round game Friday vs. Hampton in Charlotte -- that game will NOT be on CBS).

This is all part of the NCAA’s new 14-year TV deal, which was hammered out in Charlotte last April and which I’m writing about in depth for Wednesday’s newspaper.

But in the meantime, where’s truTV? Here’s a partial list, and if you aren’t on one of these then look on your TV for the channel guide or go to ncaa.com for more details.

In Charlotte on Time Warner Cable, truTV can be found on Channel 75; the HDTV version is 1313. For Comporium, it is channel 233. For Dish Network it is channel 204 and for DirecTV it is channel 246. On AT&T U-verse, it is channel 165. For MI-Connection, it is channel 31.

In general, truTV is usually found very close to TNT and TBS because all three are owned by Turner Networks. It is on most basic cable packages.

Pi Day - March 14th

For Pi day, let me plug David Blatner’s The Joy of Pi, a short tome of fun facts about pi, whose main advantage is that it cites me, saying something along the lines of “Sure, memorizing digits of pi isn’t useful, but saying that math has to be useful is like saying that the English language is only good for ordering pizza.”

What was that all about? Back in 1996, I and some friends made up a little mnemonic paragraph to remember the value of pi to 167 digits. (There may be a slight error in there; I no longer remember.) That item was picked up in a number of places, including The Scientist and Ivars Peterson’s MathTrek column.

Otherwise, I’ve never profited from this invention, so I share it with you now for free lest it be lost forever. Of course, there are a great many pi mnemonics out there, some much longer than 167 digits; see, e.g., Poe, E.: Near a Raven (740 digits), which isn’t even the longest.

In other news, if you type in “pi” in the iTunes store, you find a number of interesting songs called “Pi”, some of which sound interesting. Downloads of the day?

Rick Martin Dies - Former Sabres Great Dead At 59

BUFFALO, N.Y.Rick Martin, a member of the Buffalo Sabres' famed French Connection line in the 1970s, died Sunday. He was 59.

New York State Police Capt. Steven Nigrelli said, Martin was pronounced dead at a suburban Buffalo hospital at 1 p.m., about a half hour after the car he was driving crossed the center line on the road, rolled along the shoulder and struck a utility pole before coming to rest against a tree.

Nigrelli said witnesses spotted Martin driving with his head slumped and eyes closed before the crash, which occurred in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence. Nigrelli said it appeared Martin had "an undetermined medical emergency" before the accident.

Two passers-by and eventually a state trooper performed CPR on Martin, who remained unresponsive when removed from the vehicle. Martin's German shepherd dog was also in the vehicle and stood by, Nigrelli said.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

"Rick was not only one of the greatest players in franchise history, he was a great friend to the Sabres organization and entire community," read a statement released by the team. "The thoughts and prayers of the entire Sabres organization go out to his wife, Mikey, and their two sons, Corey and Josh."

Prior to the Sabres' home game against Ottawa on Sunday, the Sabres honored Martin with a tribute on the center ice video scoreboard.

"It was great sadness and a heavy heart that we lost a member of the Sabre family today," longtime team broadcast Rick Jeanneret said, as pictures of Martin were shown. "Rick Martin was a person of joy. You'll be missed `Rico,' but you will be remembered."

Fans gave Martin a standing ovation before the arena fell into a hush during a moment of silence.

News of Martin's death was a shock to his former teammates, including coach Lindy Ruff.

"We lost a heck of a guy today," Ruff said prior to the game. "It's tough when you lose anybody, and we lost a real good person today. It's a tough one to take."

Martin was selected fifth overall by the Sabres in the 1971 draft, and immediately made an impact on the team the following season when he scored what was then an NHL rookie record 44 goals. From LaSalle, Quebec, Richard (Rick) Lionel Martin played left wing on a line centered by Gilbert Perreault and Rene Robert. They were eventually dubbed The French Connection.

Former Sabres defenseman Larry Playfair was stunned when learning of Martin's death from Robert.

"What a shocker," Playfair said. "Wow. That one caught me off guard."

Martin was remembered for his fun-loving personality off the ice, and for his intensity on it.

"He certainly made a lot of us laugh, didn't he?" former defenseman Mike Robitaille. "I don't know what we're doing being so emotional when what he stands for is to have fun and laugh. Man, we should have the biggest part in the world for Richard. ... A lot of good memories."

Robitaille played three years with Martin in Buffalo, and didn't realize how good of an offensive player Martin was until Robitaille played against him.

"I found out how much fire he had in him," Robitaille said. "This thing about scoring goals would just overcome him. From the blue line in, he was almost unstoppable."

Martin spent 10-plus seasons with Buffalo before his career was cut short by a severe knee injury during a game against Washington in November 1980.

He was traded to Los Angeles during the 1980-81 season, and only played four games for the Kings through the following season.

Martin finished with 384 goals and 317 assists for 701 points in 685 career NHL games. He added 24 goals and 29 assists for 53 points in 63 career playoff games.

He was a five-time 40-goal-scorer, and twice surpassed the 50-goal plateau, when he had 52 in each of the 1973-74 and 1974-75 seasons. Martin's most productive campaign was in 1974-75, when he had a career-high 95 points (52 goals, 43 assists) in 68 games.

Martin has more career goals than any Sabres left wing and ranks second in team history. He ranks second with 47 game-winning goals, while his 695 points rank third. Martin also holds the Sabres record with 21 three-goal games.

The French Connection is recognized at the Sabres' arena with separate banners honoring all three players hanging together from the ceiling.

The line was most recently reunited prior to the Sabres home game against Atlanta last month. That's when the three took the ice during a welcoming ceremony, greeting Pennsylvania billionaire Terry Pegula, a day after he purchased the franchise.

"I think that was awesome," Ruff said. "To see them skate out was incredible. And just to see the smiles on all three of their faces was even better."

Pegula fondly remembered that welcome, and said he was looking forward to having the trio involved with the team even more in the future.

"We had a lot of plans in the future for these guys, I guess we'll just have an empty chair around, but it'll be there," Pegula said.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Library of Congress - An Electrical Line is Being Blamed for A Fire

An electrical line is being blamed for a fire Friday morning at the Library of Congress’s Madison building.

According to Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, D.C.-area electric provider Pepco was doing work at the building, and a feeder line caught fire.
Jennifer Gavin, senior public affairs specialist with the Library of Congress, said there was a "power surge" in an electrical room.

“But it’s out, and the building was successfully evacuated," she said. "I’m not aware of any injuries.”

According to Gavin and several firefighters at the scene, the fire broke out about 9:40 a.m. in the building’s sub-basement.

Schneider said emergency crews responded immediately. At least six D.C. Fire Department engines screamed up to the building with two ladder trucks, as firefighters sprinted inside. Capitol Police K-9 teams were on hand as well.

Roads around the building were shut down as more than a dozen fire trucks, Capitol Police and emergency vehicles remained at the scene.

Employees in the building at the time of the incident reported the lights flickering, and the Internet going down. They were then ordered to evacuate the building, and were allowed back in at 10:30 a.m.

Daylight Savings Time 2011

World map. Europe, Russia, most of North America, parts of southern South America and southern Australia, and a few other places use DST. Most of equatorial Africa and a few other places near the equator have never used DST. The rest of the land mass is marked as formerly using DST.
Although not used by most of the world's people, daylight saving time is common in the Northern Hemisphere high latitudes.
  DST observed
  DST no longer observed
  DST never observed
Daylight saving time (DST)—also summer time in British English and European official terminology respectively (see Terminology)—is the practice of temporarily advancing clocks during the summertime so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn.[1] Modern DST was first proposed in 1895 by George Vernon Hudson.[2] Many countries have used it since then; details vary by location and change occasionally.
The practice has been criticized.[1] Adding daylight to afternoons benefits retailing, sports, and other activities that exploit sunlight after working hours,[3] but causes problems for farming, evening entertainment and other occupations tied to the sun.[4][5] Its effect on health and crime is less clear. Although an early goal of DST was to reduce evening usage of incandescent lighting, formerly a primary use of electricity,[6] modern heating and cooling usage patterns differ greatly, and research about how DST currently affects energy use is limited or contradictory.[7]
DST's occasional clock shifts present other challenges. They complicate timekeeping, and can disrupt meetings, travel, billing, recordkeeping, medical devices, heavy equipment,[8] and sleep patterns.[9] Software can often adjust computer clocks automatically, but this can be limited and error-prone, particularly when DST protocols are changed.[10]

Corned Beef and Cabbage - Recipes

Saint Patrick’s Day (March 17) is quickly approaching.  I’m not the biggest fan of what may be considered traditional Irish food, so this isn’t really a time of year that I eagerly anticipate.  Apart from certain Boxty recipes and fillings that I actually like, the food sits too heavy for me, and seems a “wee bit” bland.  (Did you like that added Irish leprechaun jargon?) Moreover, I’ve always fought my gag reflexes when just thinking about such food as corned beef and cabbage, even though I’ve never tried it.

Rewind to yesterday, when out of nowhere I decided to overcome my stubbornness and started searching for recipes within the St. Patty’s Day spectrum that I might actually enjoy.  Much to my surprise, I found a couple that piqued my interest and made up my mind to give them a try.  First up was this corned beef and cabbage pizza that interestingly enough did not make me gag by the thought of it this time.  To me, that was a good sign.

While my pizza crust dough was rising, I quickly ran to the store to pick up the ingredients for the toppings, then set out to create this intriguing pie.  Besides finding a new pizza I enjoy and love, many other benefits materialized from conquering my disgust of corned beef and cabbage.  I learned how to slice cabbage (oh, so simple, I know), realized that I can use a coffee filter in place of a cheesecloth, discovered pickling spices, and I ended up with a second whole pizza to store in the freezer ready to reheat in a moment’s notice.  It was a great day!

Your initial reaction to this pizza may be similar to mine when checking out the ingredients.  But, trust me, it works!  You can see even Judah enjoyed it (and, yes, at 15 months old those are still his only two teeth!) The flavors complement one another well, and throwing it all on pizza dough is genius.  Amazingly, it is now one of my favorite pizzas that I will probably make year round.  Although, if I do limit it to once a year on St. Patrick’s day, at least I now have a palatable reason to look forward to this religious holiday.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Pizza
Yield: 2 large pizzas

1 recipe Perfect Pizza Crust, or store-bought pizza dough (2 crusts)
5 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups sliced green cabbage
Salt (Kosher salt preferred)
1 teaspoon pickling spices, tied securely in a cheesecloth or paper coffee filter
1 large yellow potato, peeled and thinly sliced
Freshly ground pepper
Yellow corn meal
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese
6 ounces sliced pre-cooked corned beef
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Place a pizza stone on a rack in the lower third of the oven.  Place the other rack in the top third of the oven.  Preheat to 500˚F for at least 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, to prepare the toppings, heat 1 tablespoon of the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.  Add the cabbage, season with salt and cook until just soft, about 5 minutes.  Pour in enough water to just cover the cabbage then drop in the pickling spices.  Cover and simmer over low heat until the cabbage is tender, about 20 minutes.

While the cabbage is cooking, toss the potato slices with 2 tablespoons olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Roast in the preheated oven on the top-third rack for 10 – 15 minutes (watching closely to keep them from turning black); set aside to cool.  Drain the cabbage in a strainer or colander and discard spices; set aside.

Form one pizza dough ball into a 12 to 14-inch round on parchment paper, or a pizza peel, scattered with yellow corn meal.  If using the Perfect Pizza Crust, refer to this post for specific instructions.  Brush the dough with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.  Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Monterey jack cheeses on the crust.  Next, layer the cabbage, the corned beef and then the potatoes.  Top with freshly grated Parmesan.  Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone and bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden and crispy.  Repeat with the remaining dough and toppings.
